August Favorites

August Favorites

I can’t believe September is already here and we’re running through it at high speed. I wanted to start a monthly favorites post so what better time than in August!

I’m going to share a larger post with all the books I read this summer and my thoughts so for now I’ll just share my two favorite books from this month. They are very different vibes but both get 5 stars from me and I absolutely adore them both!

Done and Dusted is an adult small town, cowboy romance about Clementine and her older brothers best friend Luke Brooks. Luke Brooks redefined what I’m looking for in a man in all the right ways! If you’re not into the whole cowboy thing, I’d say it’s not too heavy. Horseback riding, it’s set in Wyoming and they’re in a farm, but it doesn’t go into heavy detail. This is definitely more of a lighthearted and was a lot of fun to read.

In comparison Divine Rivals is a more intense YA novel set during a war between rivaling gods. It’s not graphic but it does depict war so if you’re looking for a fun and easy read I wouldn’t pick this up. I personally cried multiple times reading this book. It’s a book depicting war, but with a sprinkle of fantasy to it which I really enjoyed.

Moving on to a fashion favorite, which sadly I didn’t get to wear much of this august so I can’t wait for cooler weather so I can! These are the curve love straight leg jeans and I absolutely adore them! I’m 5’10 so I typically have a harder time finding jeans that fit me right or that are comfortable, but these have the perfect wash the denim is super soft and I love how they fit around the waist and then my hips! I did buy another pair of these in black and I personally don’t love them as much. I find the black denim to be stiffer and for some reason the fit just isn’t the same.

for a long time I didn’t get the hype around the baggu bags, but I finally caved and got one and I’m converted! This is the baggu large crescent bag and it has been the only bag I’ve used since I got it! It fits my book, water bottle, wallet, pouches, snacks comfortably while being sleek and really easy to clean. This has been the perfect bag to take with me into the city for work or when I’m going in for a long day!

The only makeup or skincare item I was really blown away by was the Nyx butter gloss. This is not sticky and I actually even like it on my lips without a color underneath. I’m curious to try other colors, but for now I really like just the plain clear.

I have two food favorites that I wasn’t expecting! The first being this new product at Trader Joe’s, their Chicken Karaage. I make this in my air fryer with rice and some stir fried vegetables and it’s a really easy meal when life gets busy. You could even use their frozen rice if you wanted a really easy meal.

The second thing I don’t have any pictures of because I can’t stop eating them, but they’re just thinly sliced pretzels. I’ve been eating them with lemon hummus as a snack or when I’m running between meetings and I love them so much!
