An Unofficial Cat Cafe

Cafe Arles is a cute little coffee shop off the main streets of Shinjuku with two cats. They don't label themselves as a cat cafe but they have these two cuties running around.

This place was a great place for me to study, the coffee was good, they gave me a cookie and cat treats to feed these guys. They're such sweet cats who will come sit next to you or sleep on the bench across from you. The cafe also has an antique feel to it with lots of books and velvet couches. 

So from what I understood about this place from talking to the owner is that he used to have a cat who would come with him to work because he lives near the coffee shop. Eventually the cat died of old age and the man and all of the locals who came to the store were sad. A woman who was a regular came in one day and told him she had two kittens she wanted to get adopted and he took them and here they are. Their names are Jirocho and Isimatu. 

If you're coming to Japan and you're interested in going to a cat cafe consider going to this place instead. The staff are very friendly and kind and these little cuties are great and well loved. They also have good coffee which is a plus. またね！
