Books I bought Because of Tiktok and Loved

There are a lot of books that TikTok has recommended to me that were not my favorites, however it has also given me some of my all time favorite books. I thought I would share some of my favorite books in case anyone would like to check them out.

The Twisted Series by Ana Huang is what got me back into reading after I got onto booktok. It is an interconnected but also stand alone series that follows four friends as they navigate early adulthood and dating. Each book follows the story of one of the girls so you could read them on your own but you are introduced to future characters in each book. They each also have their own tropes and plot lines like brothers best friend or close proximity. Out of all four books my favorite 5 stars is Twisted Games which follows Bridget and Rhys. It’s a princess and her body guard story that is so amazing!

This became my number one recommended fantasy series! The Caravan series by Stephanie Barber is absolutely incredible. Caraval is a magical game run by Legend where you have to get a ticket to be invited. The series follows two sisters, Scarlett and Donatella. The first book Caraval sets up the world, introduces you to all the players from Scarlett perspective. The second book goes deeper into the world and the characters and switches to Donatella. And the final book is split between Scarlett and Donatella and wraps things up beautifully while also introducing us to the new characters and plot lines that her next series Once Upon a Broken Heart.

I saw one TikTok about Daughter of the Pirate King and had to get it. And I’m so glad that I did. This story follows Alosa, who is the daughter of the pirate king, who is trying to make a name of herself and gain her fathers approval. In search of pieces to a map she takes of Riden and his brothers ship, which once belonged to their father (one of the other pirate kings). The banter between Alosa and Riden is some of the best banter I’ve read. This YA fantasy is funny, sweet and full of action.

On TikTok, Half a Soul was proposed as Howls Moving Castle meets Pride and Prejudice and I would say that is very accurate. This is a stand alone book that follows Theodora, Dora, who as a child has half of her soul stolen away by a fae. She is left with one eye drained of it’s color and the inability to feel or process her emotions. She goes with her cousin to the city in order for her cousin to marry well and she meets our Howl, Elias Wilder. A lord and sorcerer/wizard who saved the kind and won a war who is determined to figure out what happened to Dora and how to help her. The two quickly meet and become close only to have to work together to figure out why children throughout the city are falling asleep, never to wake up. This book is not heavy on the romance, but it does have the vibe of these two stories as well as mystery if you are into any of that.

This was my first hockey book and I adored it. I am so glad that the TikTok hype around this book was accurate. Ice Breaker follows Anastasia, a college figure skater, and Nate, a college hockey player as they both are preparing for their pro career transitions when one of their ice rinks breaks down and the sports have to share. This is a slight enemies to lovers, not the way it would be if they were from enemy nations or something, but they do not get along. It was cute, funny, well written and such an enjoyable read. I actually like the second book in the series Wildfire more, and the third book Day Dream is coming out this year.

Finally I am so glad that I saw this book mentioned once on TikTok because the cover in store caught my eye and I remembered i had seen a little blurb of it before. The nanny follows Aiden and Cici, Aiden is a single dad and head chef of a restaurant while Cici is trying to finish her degree. Aiden hires her, but as he gets closer he realizes there is something so familiar about her. This book was so well written it made Lana Ferguson become an automatic always buy author for me. The characters are amazing, Aidens daughter is so well written and I love Wanda. This really made me love the trope for single dad.
