8 Ways to Promote Health and Wellness During This Chaotic Time

During this crazy time in the world I have been trying to focus on both my mental and physical well being. I put together 8 Things I’ve started implementing into my life

Exercise or Move

Exercising and moving around can help you so much. Dancing can help you feel happier or lighter. Dance around your living room or do some yoga. Right now you don’t have to do the biggest hardest workout but you can get moving and bring up your energy. A lot of you tubers are making at home workouts, like blogilates, gyms and yoga studios are making online classes or workouts on youtube and instagram.

Drink a lot of water/tea

Right now it is really important to keep drinking water, you can do that through water or even tea. I have started drinking more tea because I want to increase the amount of water I drink but I also really like drinking tea as a way to stay calm. Also as a bonus, drinking more water will be good for your skin and help with bloating.

Self Care

Self care can be whatever that means for you. When you are feeling stressed out or upset having sometime for yourself is really important. It could be having a cup of tea like I said or it could be doing a face mask or your nails. Whatever you brings you joy and keeps you calm

Get a breath of fresh air if you can

I’m so lucky to have a back yard to go outside in everyday. Doctors and nurses have said going outside and breathing some fresh air is so good for us during this time. I personally open all the windows in my space, especially now that the weather is getting warmer. If you have a backyard, go outside and get some fresh air or some sunshine. If you are in a city try and just go for a safe walk around the block, wearing a mask and gloves

Get yourself together— even just a little

Some days I just want to stay in my pajamas and not do anything. But getting up and putting on  a comfy outfit that is not your pajamas— I’ll put together a blog post of outfits soon!— Also putting on a little bit of makeup or doing your hair can change your energy and your motivation

Check in with your friends and loved ones— even your strong friends

Right now it is important to stick together. You don’t have to talk to someone everyday but giving your friends a call or a text to say “hey I’m thinking about you how are you doing?” can be really great for both you and your friend. Also I’m someone who is considered a strong friend, someone who normally is the one to reach out or the one to plan things, check in on that person too.

Meditate or quiet time

I personally take a half hour to meditate every morning before I get to work and after I’ve had a little coffee. Right now there are a lot of people posting meditations on their instagrams or youtube, there are also apps you can get. If you don’t like meditating I would say set a half hour timer where you just sit without any distractions and just let yourself breathe and be. It is so important to give your mind a rest.

Be gentle on yourself

Right now it is a super stressful and anxious time. I’ve seen all over instagram and blogs on things to do while in quarantine, yes I made one too, but I think it is also important to recognize you don’t have to do everything everyday. If you feel like crying that is ok, if you feel like crawling into bed and hiding that’s ok too. Be gentle on yourself don’t push yourself and do what you can. Everyone right now is just trying to do their best.
