Monday Moment: 10 Things I had to pack with me
I came to Japan for a semester last year so I feel like I'm a little bit more prepared coming back this time around. So I made a list of my top ten things to bring with you to Japan, this is a bit more geared towards women but I hope it still helps.
Top Ten Things To Bring to Japan
- Medicine and vitamins
- Shoes and pants
- Tights
- Razors
- Makeup-
- Things that make you feel at home
- Winter coat
- Bug spray
- Deodorant
- Period gear
So starting with the obvious you're gonna want to bring your own medicine and vitamins with you. Japanese medicine is not the same strength as American medicine so you might want to stock up what you usually take.
Shoes, pants and tights you will want. Don't let anyone make you feel bad for your number of shoes because you'll want them. Same with pants and tights, pants you might be able to find some but definitely not tights. This time I brought 8 pairs of tights with me.
Razors for women are hard to find. Most women I know from Japan do not have to shave often but I feel like I have to shave every few days so I made sure to bring razors with me this time.
The other thing that I brought with me was makeup, I find it hard to find concealer and foundation in my shade so I brought the ones I like. I also don't really like shimmery light eyeshadows which are really popular in Japan so I brought some I like. There is also no sephora here which makes me so so sad.
The other thing I would bring is a few things that make you feel at home. I brought a blanket with me that I love and a stuffed animal and some sweatshirts. The things you'll want when you want when you might be homesick.
This one is a weird one but bug spray. Mosquitoes here are super bad and they love foreigners but I found the bug spray here to be really weak and not good enough. I also personally like organic bug sprays so I brought one that I like with me.
I also brought a lot of deodorant, a lot more then the ones shown below. The deodorant in Japan is also super weak, I guess when people sweat here they don't smell...? But I need a strong deodorant, I'm not gonna lie.
The other thing I would bring is your period favorites. I'm not a huge fan of the pads here and have heard things about them being weird. So the last time I came I brought my thinx underwear with me and I love them! I brought them again.
