Cafe Diaries: Deus Ex Machina
So I recently tried a coffee shop called Deus Ex Machina. It’s in the Harajuku Omotesando area and is really interesting. The first floor is a cafe, the basement is the gallery and bar space, and upstairs is a store. This is a very foreign friendly store, most of the staff also speak english. It is also a really hip and cool area. A lot of musicians and artists come here.

Something I was really shocked by was how good the food here was. The sandwiches are amazing! I had their veggie supreme which was incredible! The avocado was really good and the fries were amazing! I also heard they have curly fries, so I’m gonna have to have those next time!
I love the space, I’ve been here when it is raining and closed but also sunny and open. Even when the main windows are closed the space feels open. Open but also cozy and inviting.
On Thursdays and Fridays they have live music from 7 pm onwards. They have a variety of sandwiches, desserts and other foods as well as coffee, tea or alcohol. It is a super inviting space and I hope to become more of a local here because the community built around here seems really great!
