2020 Kdrama Releases I Loved

2020 Kdrama Releases I Loved

One thing you may not know about me is that I am a huge korean drama fan! I love watching them! I have been watching them since I was in high school when I wanted to learn korean. I thought I would share some of my favorite korean dramas that have been released in 2020.

It’s Ok Not To Be OK

If you’re going to watch any Korean Drama that came out this year definitely start with this. It is so beautiful and emotional. I watched it as it came out but if I didn’t I think I would finish it in about two days. It’s also on netflix! It has a lot to do about mental health, which I was very surprised about in a korean drama.

It’s ok not to be ok is about Ko Moon Young, a children’s book writer and how she deals with her childhood trauma. She meets Moon Gang Tae and his brother Sang Tae and they begin to open their world. Gang Tae is a nurse at a psychiatric ward, he is also dealing with his own past traumas. It is such a beautiful drama.

Mystic Pop Up Bar

This is such an underrated drama and it is also so so cute! When it was over I was ready for another episode. It’s about a magical pop up bar where the owner helps people solve their problems in their dreams. It also has romance and action and a little bit of historicalness in it. It’s a nice mix of a period drama and a modern one.

I’ll Come to You When the Weather is Warm

IMG_8185.jpeg

I watched this at the beginning of the year and it is such a warm romantic drama. It’s a romance drama about Hae Won who moves back to her hometown that she hasn’t been to since she was in high school. She is reunited with old friends and some who might become more.

Itaewon Class

This is a super popular drama right now that came out on netflix this year and to be honest, I don’t like it. I finished the drama in the end but I think it was overhyped and there are better dramas out there. Personally, I didn’t like either one of the female leads. So watching the romantic scenes was really hard for me because I didn’t want to support either one of them winning him over.

It’s about a young man who due to misunderstandings goes to jail at a young age and how he turns his life around to create a business and compete with the man who ruined his life. I really loved the lead male actor Park Seo Joon and I think he did a great job. It’s a good drama and worth the watch.

Start Up

Start Up is a new drama currently out on netflix about a group of young entrepreneurs dealing with romance and the business world. I was apprehensive about watching this drama because Suzy is in it and I don’t love her as an actress, but it’s one of the few out now I’m interested in watching so I gave it a try.I am pleasantly surprised at how I like her in this drama compared to other dramas. I adore Nam Joo Hyuk but I don’t really like the second lead Kim Seon Ho. It’’s not done yet but so far I really like it

Tale of the Nine Tailed

IMG_8175.jpeg

I have been waiting all year for this drama. When I heard it was going to be released I was so excited! My favorite mythological creature is a gumiho or a kitsune which is a nine tailed fox in korean and japanese culture

IMG_8176.jpeg

Lee Yeon is a gumhio who was a god of a mountain but now works to cleanse humans of evil spirits and punish other gumhio for their crimes. He has been waiting for his first love to be reincarnated with his fox bead, but he is giving up hope after hundreds of years. Until! He meets Nam Ji Ah who looks just like his first love. She is trying to unravel the mystery behind her parents disappearance when she was a child.

The cast in this is amazing starting off with Lee Dong Wok and Jo Bo Ah. But coming out of retirement is Kim Bum who was in boys over flowers. He has not aged since doing that drama over ten years ago!

I’ve been watching the drama as it comes out on viki for free and it is absolutely amazing! I highly recommend it!

Drama’s I Dropped in 2020

IMG_8186.jpeg

This is going to be controversial again but… I did not finish this drama. It’s on netflix and I made it really far into it but I waited for episodes to come out and then I learned it gets really sad and just couldn’t handle it. I think it’s a really great drama and the cast is amazing. The only thing I thought was off was the plot. I’ve studied the relationship between the north and the south extensively and this is very very unlikely. Some aspects are true, like the smuggling markets, but a lot of it is very romanticized.

If you can handle the sadness give it a go!

I LOVE Woo Do Hwan so much (he was great in Mad Dog, My Country and the Great Seducer) I also love Lee Min Ho (I’ve seen everything he’s done) so I was really excited about this drama and I really loved the actress in Goblin but I just couldn’t keep up with this drama. It started off a bit slow and was complicated with the double worlds. I think at some point i’ll go back to it just to watch the boys but until then I dropped it

What do you think of these dramas? And what are you watching right now that you like? I’d love to know your thoughts!
