February Goals and Current Favorites
Instead of having yearly goals for 2021 I decided that I am going to do monthly goals. And with the start of the month I’m planning on looking back on the previous months goals and either changing them or keeping them if they are going well. So here’s a little update on my goals:
For January I wanted to be more creative in different ways but I think I need to specify the type of medium I’m going to use. This month I’m going to try and play around with gauche paints. My mom has a set and is a really good painter. I’ve always been afraid to paint things because I know I’m not very good, but I also know I won’t get better unless I practice. So I’m going to borrow her set this month and play around with that
I want to write more— when I was a kid and in high school I was told by my teachers that I was a bad writer because I’m bad at grammar. But I love to tell stories and recently I’ve been thinking about some ideas so I’m just going to start writing them for me!
January was a hard month for me health wise. I ended up getting sick towards the end of the month, not covid related, and had to get a lot of blood work and tests done. This month I’m going to focus on taking the next steps for my health
I’m also going to continue exercising. I' tried to make time to walk on the treadmill for at least a half hour three days a week if I didn’t have time to lift weights or do another workout— the blizzard we just had though did give me a really good workout.
I know I only really have many goals this month but I think that is ok. February is a short month so I want to keep my goals focused.
February Favorites
Alright let’s talk about some favorites! My number one favorite for the month, and maybe forever, is horimiya the manga and the anime. The manga is completed and I highly recommend reading the manga, because even though the anime is really really good it goes pretty fast and misses some of my favorite intimate moments in the manga. The story is so amazing, the characters develop so well over the story and it is also so funny. Many times while reading the manga I would burst out laughing.
Some other anime honorable mentions for the month are: Sk8 the Infinity, Jujutsu Kaisen, and the new volleyball anime called 2.43
My Manga Favorite for the month has to be The Demon Prince of Momochi House. I don’t really like to start manga that aren’t completed or almost done because they take a long time to update and I’m such an impatient person.
This manga is completed it’s about a young girl named Himari Momochi, who is raised in an orphanage until she is 16 when she finds out she has inherited the Momochi house, in a small rural town in the mountains. When she arrives to her new home, hoping to find some answers about her mysterious family, she instead finds three handsome young men living in her house. One being Aoi who is now the nue, a fox/cat/bid spirit, master of the house. The Momochi house is a gateway between the spiritual world and ayakashi to the human world.
I love Japanese mythology and especially kitsune or fox/cat spirits like aoi is so I immediately fell in love with this story. The manga is really well done and I love the story. I loved the anime Kakuriyo no yadomeshi and was reading the manga but its not caught up to the anime or updated so while I wait I was so happy to discover this.
I’ve been feeling really in a slump about Kdrama’s recently. I am not watching true beauty because I was waiting for it to be completed because I didn’t think I would love it. This show is the only one that really caught my eye and I love it! It’s called Run on and it’s on netflix and it’s ending this week which makes me so sad!
This lifestyle romance drama is about Ki Seon-Gyeom who was once a popular sprinter for the national team. Due to a series of incidents he leaves the sport with no idea of what he wants to do with his future. He comes from a wealthy political family, and his mother is a famous actress, so his entire life was always planned for him. Until he meets Oh Mi-Joo a translator of movies. The show follows the two of them falling in love along with the second couple who are there friends.
This show is not your typical cliched romance drama and I have to say it might be up there with It’s ok not to be ok for me. I haven’t been disappointed once! Here are some reasons why
The male leads become friends instead of rivals and their friendship is so awkward and funny because Seon Gyeom is just awkward.
The female leads also don’t fight each other but form their own strange friendship. The second lead, Seo Dan Ah, doesn’t have any friends and doesn’t know how to really be a normal person but Mi Joo helps advise her a lot and they’re so hilarious together.
Oh Mi Joo, the female lead, always stands up for herself. In every situation where an older man or just a man insults her or talks down to her she speaks up. She doesn’t wait for the male lead or another man to defend her. In fact at one point her ex boyfriend tries to step in and she says she can handle it. And I love her for that
The main couple is so healthy for once! They communicate everything to each other and always tell each other everything. They have no secrets
There are a lot of conversations about the LGBTQ+ community in this show, which is so rare for korea. The second lead is outed to her family as being a lesbian by her older brother, which in turn causes her soccer career to be ruined. There are other examples in the show but I will save that for you to watch
One thing I’ve oddly loved rewatching is the show the winx club! I watched this show as a kid and loved it but at some point i guess I stopped watching because apparently it has eight seasons! I love to watch this when I’m doing other things or don’t want to think to much. I love fairies and all of this show! I know netflix made a live action one but its nothing like the original so I’m not sure if I’ll watch it.
A clothing favorite, which was a surprise to me, is this patagonia sweater my husbands best friend gave me. He got me and my husband each a patagonia sweater as a christmas wedding present. He let us pick them out but he suggested this one to me so I got it. I don’t have any white sweaters and I didn’t realize how much I would wear this.
If I’m not wearing the patagonia sweater then I’m wearing this sweater my mom got me from freepeople. It is such a heavy knit and so cozy! It’s also my favorite color!
I thought I should include a mask favorite because I’ve only been wearing these recently. These are from Johnnywas and I love it! It has an insert for a filter and it’s so comfortable to wear.
My last favorite is this acne cleanser from cerave! It has been saving my skin recently. It helps me from getting the cystic acne I was getting and when I do get one from eating too much sugar or my period it helps make them go away very fast. I love it so much. It’s unfortunately sold out online everywhere and I could only find it at a local ulta.
