March Goals and Favorites
February just flew bye! I feel like I didn’t even have time to process anything. I decided to just push my goals from the last month onto this month. I know this post is late and we’re already on the 21st of march but I still wanted to post this!
March Favorites
Last month I talked about Horimiya which is still ongoing and I highly recommend! But, I wanted to give a different anime suggestion this time! I’m currently watching and obsessing over the Anime Jujutsu Kaisen or JJK. JJK is set in a world where all living beings emanate an energy called cursed energy, which comes from negative emotions. Jujutsu Sorcerers use cursed techniques to control the cursed energy to fight evil spirits.
JJK starts off by following Yumi Itadori an high school student who is in the Occult Research Club and through a series of events swallows the finger of a a powerful cursed spirit, Sukuna, who enters his body as a vessel.
It has action and friendship and is so so good! Also the man with the blue eyes is gojo and he is incredible!
From the creators of Banana Fish is Sk8 the Infinity, takes place in Okinawa and follows a group of hardcore skates who participate in a secret no holds barred competition after midnight known as S. We follow Langa, who has just moved to Japan from Canada after losing his father and giving up snowboarding. He meets Reki who teaches him to love skateboarding.
Joe and Cherry are the green and pink haired ones and you should just watch the show for them alone. But the show is so cute you’ll fall attached to all the characters! Its still ongoing so I don’t know if the writers will hurt us like they did with banana fish
Manga
I’m finally reading Yona of the Dawn because I needed more after the anime ended. I watched the anime a few years ago and finally decided to read it and I’ve been putting off reading the last few chapters because I don’t want it to end! It picks up nicely where the anime left off and continues the story so beautifully and I’ve been really invested
Yona is a princess who lives happily in the palace with her father and friends, oblivious to the misery of the kingdom. But the day of her sixteenth birthday her life changes: the emperor is killed. Yona has to run away to survive. She'll be helped by her friend and bodyguard, General Hak. Hak is stunning the rest of the characters are stunning! I don’t want to say anymore go watch and read it!
This manga is ongoing and its called Abe Kun has Got Me Now.
The story follows high-school girl Akari who could care less about the school’s beefy, gorilla-esque sport star, Abe-kun from the Karate Club who is in her class. After Abe-kun hurts his arm protecting her from a basketball hitting her in the face, she makes sure he gets healed soon so he can compete again. Shocked by her kindness, Abe confesses his love for her, and will not take no for an answer. Unused to dealing with strong, pushy guys, she tries her best to avoid his advances even as she feels herself being drawn into his strength.
Abe is super sweet in this manga and I absolutely love watching him try and impress, and convince Akari to fall for him. It’s ongoing so I can’t wait to see where the story goes
This manga is short and completed, it’s called Wolf Boy is Mine. I have a thing where I fall for characters with fox, cat ears so I knew I was going to love this adorable manga.
Komugi Kusunoki transferrs from the Tokyo to start a new life in rural Hokkaido with her father who she hasn’t lived with since her parents divorce. On her first day of school, the school heartthrob Yū Ōgami blurts out, “You smell good!” in front of the entire class. Komugi tries to adjust to her new school, but it’s not long before she stumbles across Yū dozing off under a tree. When she attempts to wake him up, he transforms into a wolf making her promise to keep his and his friends secret from the rest of the school
It’s a really sweet completed manga that is a fast read and it’s definitely a good read.
Other Media
In non anime and manga things I’ve been consuming I’ve been loving watching Stanley Tucci’s new travel show. It feels like CNN is trying to replace Anthony bourdains travel show, which will never happen. But I do love Stanley Tucci and the filming of italy is beautiful. It’s a great show to get your travel fix from until its safe to do so. I love seeing all the food and scenery in Italy.
I just finished the final season of Carmen Sadiego, which I know is a kids show, but I really enjoyed it. They had a lot of interesting facts about the different countries it took place in and I really liked the animation and story. If you’re looking for something to watch that’s not too intense I recommend this
Miscellaneous
My husband is Japanese and we are constantly on the hunt for good noodles. These are our current favorites from Sun Noodle. You can get them at whole foods and they have a lot of different flavor options. They’re a really easy dinner for us and we like to add vegetables and different chicken or meat to it.
Pins! I have been obsessed with collecting pins! I used to love stickers but then I was always sad to put them on things so they sat in a box in my room. Until I discovered pins! I love putting them on my bags, denim jackets, and now I have a pin board in my room because some of them are so beautiful I don’t want anything to happen to them.
Here is the store where the Kuroo and Bokuto are from. Definetly check her out! She has some amazing pins she’s about to release that she shares on her instagram, and they’re such good quality and so cute! I think I’ll make a blog post of some of my favorite pin and anime merchandise stores.
This may seem random but it brings me so much joy! I went to home depot with my dad and husband and they were like you should get something too. I had nothing I needed until I saw him! He’s rechargeable and you can change his colors by patting his head!! I was surprised how bright it is! I think if we ever lost power it would be a really good lantern.
