Winter 2022 Kdramas

Winter 2022 Kdramas

After finishing “It’s ok not to be ok” I went into a kdrama slump. I kept comparing things to it and nothing seemed interesting. But Netflix recently added a lot of new series so I’m able to download them to watch on my commute. Here are some of the things I’ve watched recently and my thoughts on them

I started with this movie based off of a webtoon with the same name. It’s not super spicy but I wouldn’t recommend watching it publicly because it does talk a lot about dom and sub relationships. I think the amount of spice was mixed in nicely with this romance story about two office workers falling for each other.

By accident Jiwoo finds out about Jihoo’s personal preferences and the two form a contract relationship. Over the span of their contract the two become closer in and out of work. Until a large scandal hits their office and the two have to reevaluate their relationship.

I thought this was a really good movie and the romance between the two man characters was really sweet. There were some funny and charming moments that kept me engaged so I’d rate this a 7.5

The Kings Affection came out in 2021, it is a 20 episode drama, and it was absolutely amazing. I normally don’t like historical dramas, not because I’m not interested in the history, but because I find they’re usually terribly written. Which is really sad because the traditional clothing and scenery is beautiful, the history is so fascinating and there is so much potential for more.

Anyway, going back to this drama; the cast for this was really amazing and the concept for the show was so unique! It hooked me in right away and when I thought I would get bored, with it being such a long drama, it hooked me back in again. Overall I’d give this drama probably an 8.5 because I’ve seen better dramas but I still found it really good.

the kings affection is set in Joseon Dynasty when twins were considered an ominous and negative sign. It follows the story of the crown Princess giving birth to twins, being ordered to kill the daughter because she is “not valuable”, who she secretly saves. Things settle down as the crown prince grows up until a young maid enters the palace, looking exactly like the prince. I won’t explain much more so I don’t give anything away, but definitely give it a try.

Our Beloved Summer came out in 2021 and I have to say I dropped this so fast! I only managed to watch the first two episodes. I really do not like this actress, I found her really difficult to watch in itaewon clas and I feel like she’s just playing the same character here. I also didn’t like the male lead, I found him very annoying. While watching the first two episodes I found the plot very predictable and with characters I didn’t like it was hard to continue.

Forecasting Love and Weather

Before I even get into how good this show was I just have to compliment the casting!! I absolutely adore Park Min Young, the main actress, she did a great job in her private life and another amazing job here! The main actor is a newer actor but what I’ve seen of him has been fantastic and I can’t wait to see what he’ll do next. I first saw Song Kang in the ballerina drama called Navillera and he was amazing, he’s also been in love alarm and nevertheless. I definitely can see him becoming a big named actor like Lee Min Ho or Lee Jong Suk.

Now for the actual drama, I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did. I was sort of expecting it to be like every other romance drama but the way it was written and shot was amazing! Some episodes instead of recaps had flashbacks to scenes in the last episode but from a different characters perspective, and I really enjoyed that instead of a typical recap. The use of weather forecasts to describe what was going on in their love life was really sweet. Overall I’d give this a 9 out of 10, it was unique and really good.

spoiler: I think what the female lead did by hiding the fact that the male leads father was having cancer surgery without him knowing was just awful. I totally understand why he was upset, I would be too.

Twenty Five Twenty One was a really unique and amazing drama. I loved how it was a throwback story old through the main characters daughter reading her old diary. The main actress and actor are so incredible and I’ve watched dramas with the male lead before and I really enjoyed them.

Business Proposal is your classic typical romance kdrama. It’s based off of a WEBTOON and for me it just feels like a common romance drama. I finished the drama but I found it really predictable. I didn’t love it I’d give this drama probably a 7 out of 10 just because of how I felt like I had watched this drama before.

Its about Shin ha ri who’s best friend convinces her to go on her blind date for marriage where she meets Kang Tae Mu, the CEO of her company. She does her best to act crazy but he is determined to just marry her to get his grandfather off of his back. So he asks her to marry him to just get things over with.
