Monday Moment: A Treehouse in Tokyo
Could you ever imagine a tree house in Tokyo? I couldn’t imagine it either. I read a blog post from the Tokyo Chapter and she mentioned this flower cafe so I decided to go here on my birthday while my boyfriend was at work. The tree house is above a flower shopping the Azabujuban area.
This place is called Les Grands Arbres. Address: 〒106-0047 Tokyo, Minato, 南麻布 5 15 11 3階.屋上
The first and second floor is a flower shop and the tree house, then the cafe is on the third floor and the roof is an open seating area. I was really sad I couldn’t eat or have tea here because they told me there was a three or four hour wait. I came on a Saturday so I would recommend going on a weekday. The stairs are actually strong enough you can climb but there is also a door entrance on the second floor.
When you climb the stairs or when you go out the second floor door there is the treehouse with a little seat inside of it. There are also lights strung throughout the tree which is really cool. I want to come here during the week and stay until the sunsets to see the lights.
What’s also incredible about this treehouse is that they build it around the tree. It’s a real tree and they even built the chair and table inside around the branch. I loved that attention to detail and respect for the tree.
So the first and second store is a flower store and you can buy anything you see. I loved this iron deer with the baby’s breath in its antlers. They had a really interesting selection of plants, ones I’ve never seen in Japan or the US before. They also had a really good selection of plants, they were a bit expensive but not over the top. They also deliver to your house which is super nice.
They specialize in dried flower bouquet as well. I haven’t really seen that in Japan but I liked it a lot. They claim that there are no pictures allowed inside but I took a lot of photos and video and no one seemed to care. There were also a lot of girls posing and taking pictures on the second floor with the deer. So I think if you aren’t in their way they don’t care.
